PHILOSOPHY, RULES, AND REGULATIONS
The rules and regulations for this class are few and simple. It is my belief that by the time you have reached this point in the educational process you know as well as I do what is considered proper classroom behavior. I expect you to exercise it. We are all in this together! You will need to learn to know each and every person in this room, and in the process of knowing them, you will need to learn to respect them and to cooperate with them. Please remember that I too am one of the people in your class. I think of you as a young adult, an individual worthy of my respect and admiration. I intend to treat you accordingly and expect to be treated that way in return.
The kitchen, poses a slightly different situation. To properly prepare you for life in a professional kitchen you must become accustomed to the role of the chef. Due to work pressures and safety concerns, all directives of the chef will be followed completely and immediately. You will be learning in a potentially dangerous environment and this discipline is for your own safety.
My hope for each student is that by enrolling in the Culinary Arts program that they will enjoy the class by learning basic and intermediate skills needed to make them successful. By teaching the Workplace Readiness Skills along with the culinary skills, students will be better prepared for employement and/or post secondary education opportunities in the food industry.
